FROM 4R FARM

A letter from 4R Farm

The first issue of a seasonal Journal about life, land, care and gathering.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK

Very little of lasting value exists on its own.

As winter settles over Montana, our work shifts with it. The season carries a particular kind of beauty - a season filled with faith, gratitude, generosity, and the quiet warmth of gathering with the people we love.

At 4R, winter brings together the things we care most about making well: botanical care, home and ranch stewardship, provisions shaped by the land, and heirloom pieces created for meaningful giving. Each is guided by the same commitment to provenance, craftsmanship and stewardship.

But 4R Journal was created to make room for more than what we make. It is a place for the people, knowledge and stories that shape life in our corner of Montana - from healing and hospitality to land, food, art and the work of the season.

Our lives are shaped by the people we work beside, the businesses we return to, the tables where we gather and the makers, growers, caregivers and craftspeople whose knowledge we trust.

Their stories show that provenance is more than a point of origin. It is a living network of place, purpose, responsibility and care - the fuller understanding of value this Journal was created to hold.

Throughout this first issue, you will meet contributors and makers whose work brings something meaningful to the rituals of care, gathering, tending and giving. Their voices are here because we admire not only what they create, but the care they instill in their work.

We hope the Winter Edit offers a thoughtful pause - something to read slowly, return to, and carry with you through the months ahead. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your season, and for helping us begin this new chapter of 4R Journal.

WITH GRATITUDE,

Karl + Jennifer Renne
